Late on July 28, Croatia time, with the last closure segment lifted into place and welded completely, ZPMC achieved the closure of the Croatia Peljesac Bridge. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has witnessed this historical moment together with the Supervisor, Owner, Contractor and local media came on site. He spoke highly of the Croatian Bridge Project and praised the Chinese builders for their fearless spirit of overcoming difficulties, which made the world witness the Chinese speed and demonstrated the Chinese strength.

The Peljesac Bridge is a 6-tower central single cable plane and extradosed cable-stayed bridge with steel concrete composite girders, with steel box girders made of orthotropic plates, a top width of 22.5m, a bottom width of 8.1m and a girder height of 4.5m, which is the fifth most important bridge project in Europe. The bridge has 165 girder segments, with a total weight of about 34,800t, equivalent to the steels for 5 Eiffel Tower. ZPMC undertook the fabrication of 84 girder segments. Since the commencement of work in July 2019, employees of ZPMC have always built the bridge with the highest European EXC4 standard, the strictest acceptance requirements and the most diligent attitude. After the first ship arrived at the site as scheduled, employees of ZPMC went out to the battle to escort the bridge for its final closure.

With the successful closure of the bridge, a solid foundation has been laid for the opening of the bridge as scheduled, indicating the permanent connection between the Peljesac Peninsula in southern Croatia and the mainland of Croatia, and the communication between northern and southern Croatia can be achieved without crossing the borders of neighboring countries, helping Croatia's economic development, tourism revitalization and livelihood improvement.
