On January 5th, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) celebrated the delivery of the Erhang Changqing, the largest pile-driving vessel ever constructed, in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province, China

The vessel, stretching 130.5 meters long, 40.8 meters wide, and with a depth of 8.4 meters, features a 150-meter-high pile frame. It is capable of driving piles up to 700 tons in weight and 7 meters in diameter, setting new industry standards with the highest pile frame and the largest pile lifting capacity. It also boasts exceptional resistance to wind and waves. Designed with a commitment to environmentally responsible and intelligent technologies, the Erhang Changqing incorporates cutting-edge diesel-electric hybrid DC networking technology in conjunction with supercapacitors. It employs the world’s largest 5,000-ton thrust ultra-large oil cylinder, a product of independent Chinese development and manufacturing. The vessel’s advanced pile positioning system, equipped with far-sea star station differential capabilities, offers precise, centimeter-level deep-sea pile positioning, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing carbon emissions, thereby setting a new standard for intelligence and sustainability in piling vessels. 

With its superior capabilities, the Erhang Changqing is poised to be instrumental in the construction of major port infrastructures, cross-sea bridges, and both offshore wind jacket and monopile installations. This core asset supports the advancement of deep-sea hydraulic engineering and the offshore wind power industry chain.
