Recently, the final round of the 22nd Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in South Africa and the ZPMC Cup - Chinese Bridge language proficiency competition for South African students have come to a successful conclusion. The competition was hosted by Center for Language Education and Cooperation and Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of South Africa, and organized by Confucius Institute at Durban University of Technology. As an important unit of the Chinese enterprises in Durban, ZPMC's African subsidiary was the title sponsor of this competition.
Chen Xiaodong, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa sent his congratulations to the competition via a video. He said that this year remarks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa, and the BRICS Summit will also be held in South Africa. The Chinese Bridge competition, as a platform for overseas Chinese learners to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture, will certainly drive more young South Africans to Chinese language learning and become the inheritors of China-South Africa friendship and civil ambassadors to promote the development of China-South Africa relations.
This year's Chinese Bridge competition continued the theme of One World, One Family. There were 14 participants from six Confucius Institutes in different regions of South Africa and their experiences and diverse skills showed their vision of a relationship with Chinese and the hope for a harmonious world. The competition was divided into three parts—a written test, a keynote speech and a talent show. After two-hour fierce competition, Su Hanya and Li Suimin from the University of Cape Town won the first prize and would come to China for the global final of the Chinese Bridge competition on behalf of South Africa.
Participants consisted of representatives of China-South Africa enterprises, guests of China-South Africa media, Chinese and foreign directors of Confucius Institutes and about 150 Chinese language enthusiasts. As a major Chinese enterprise at Durban, ZPMC actively participated in international cultural activities and promoted cultural exchanges between China and South Africa, which further established the good image of the company and enhanced the overseas brand influence and reputation of the company. In addition, ZPMC has also been practicing its corporate social responsibility by contributing to the construction of the Belt and Road.
