On September 1, Singapore Tuas Port was formally put into operation. Singapore Premier Lee Hsien Loong attended the Opening Ceremony and delivered a speech.

PSA Tuas Automatic Wharf Project in Singapore is a super port construction project planned by Singapore government. This wharf is a super port complex integrated with port shipping, harbor industry, shipbuilding and other port businesses. The wharf covers a land of about 13.37km2, possesses 26km of deepwater berths and a handling capacity of 65 million containers, which nearly doubles that of 37.5 million containers in Singapore in 2021. It will become a fully-automatic wharf with the largest throughput in the world.

Over three years, PSA and Zhenhua Port Machinery have signed in batches purchase contracts of 28 sets of double-trolley automatic quay cranes and 78 sets of automatic rail cranes, and have overcome difficulties in the situation where the epidemic at home and abroad was severe, guaranteeing the delivery progress.

By overcoming technical innovation difficulties, the project team of Zhenhua Port Machinery has successfully built the double-trolley automatic quay cranes featuring the largest parameters and fast speed in the world at present. Such quay cranes feature a rated capacity (below slings) of 65t, front reach of 73m, a gauge of 35m, a rear reach of 22m and a lifting height of 55m. During operation, the main trolley speed of quay cranes can be up to 270m/min, and the speed of the auxiliary trolley can be up to 130m/min, about 10% up than that of conventional double-trolley quay cranes. In the meanwhile, such quay cranes are integrated with 6 items of key technical innovation and have realized intelligent and efficient upgrading of double-trolley automatic quay cranes.

The safety strategy expert system of such quay cranes improves the safety level of mechanical hardware, electric control system and control system to fully cover the safety belt hook device of the whole quay crane. The anti-hacker system and multi-collision resistance and protection design are applied to the control system to enhance the safety of equipment. In addition, the quay crane intelligent control system based on the intelligent agent concept can independently select the detection subsystem online according to the differences in operation scenarios and detect systems to realize calibration of functions. When a single system breaks down, it can be actively or passively switched to the substitutive system to avoid operation interruption of quay cranes and improve the operation efficiency.

Such rail cranes are large single-cantilever automatic rail cranes featuring the automation function in the exchange area at the end of the yard and designed by Zhenhua Port Machinery for the new layout of Tuas Port. They adopt the currently most advanced control technology and design scheme, which realizes the automatic working ability of the rail cranes for external container trucks in the matching exchange area at the end of the yard. In addition, Zhenhua team adopted image recognition technology and network security technology for the first time in key systems, which further improved the operating efficiency of equipment and fully guaranteed the security of system data.

The SPSS system of such cranes has changed the previous unitary positioning function, has realized the sling gesture recognition and container truck hoisting resistance functions and has saved the hardware investment cost and maintenance cost. Such cranes also have the trailer smash prevention and storage yard information calibration functions, which are like the automatic "calibration personnel" at the storage yard to guarantee smooth transportation of equipment.
