As part of its commitment to strengthening cross-cultural ties and corporate citizenship, engineers from Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) – the global port equipment leader overseeing the Chancay Port Automation Project in Peru – recently engaged with local students through an innovative educational program titled "Across Mountains and Oceans: Inspiring Peru's Next Generation of Technologists".
Aligned with the company's flagship automation project in Chancay, the outreach event simplified complex port engineering concepts using dynamic multimedia tools. Engineers utilized animated videos, 3D visualizations, and interactive models to demystify modern port operations, transforming technical jargon into accessible knowledge and sparking visible excitement and curiosity among the students.
The event reached its climax when engineers challenged students to envision Peru-China trade opportunities: "Imagine a cargo ship sailing from Peru to China—what treasures might be hidden inside the containers?" Participants responded enthusiastically with answers ranging from "Peruvian blueberries!" to "Precious minerals!" — showcasing both national pride and understanding of bilateral trade potential.
To cap off the event, the project team donated school supplies, including notebooks, writing utensils, canvas tote bags, and sports water bottles, to the students. Cheers erupted as the children received their "Dream Kits". Through knowledge-sharing and cultural exchange, the event cultivated intercultural dialogue among young participants, paving the way for sustained cooperation and underscoring ZPMC's dedication to building lasting connections throughout Latin America.
