Recently, Zhenhua Port Machinery Company held a celebration of the completion of the main bridge steel structure for the Australian West Gate Tunnel steel bridge project.

The West Gate Tunnel in Australia is located in the southern coastal city Melbourne; the construction is a key livelihood project in the area. The total investment of the project exceeded 6 billion US dollars. After completion, it could shorten the commuting time from Melbourne West to downtown by 20 minutes, greatly alleviating the traffic congestion on local roads. This project was the first important municipal bridge project undertaken by ZPMC in Australia, and it was also the first time that the Australian government had handed over a bridge project of over 50 million Australian dollars to a Chinese enterprise, which possessed profound significance.

ZPMC has undertaken seven main bridges and four sets of supporting pier structures for the West Gate Bridge Tunnel project in Australia. The total tonnage of the main bridge steel structure exceeded 38,000 tons. With the gradual delivery of the main structure, the general contractor continued to add four pedestrian bridges in two installments, bringing the total tonnage of the project to 40,800 tons. This project was manufactured according to Australian standards and met the Vicroads 630 and 631 technical specifications of Victorian Highway Bureau. The project was completed under high quality requirements, with a weld surface grade of P3, a dust level of 1, and a surface treatment grade of Sa3, all of which were consistent with the highest requirements for steel structures and coatings.
