The opening ceremony of Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong, which ZPMC participates in the construction, is held recently. John Lee, Chief Executive of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, attends the ceremony and delivers a speech. Liu Chun San, Acting Secretary for Transport and Logistics Bureau of Hong Kong, Fong Hok-shing, Director of Civil Engineering and Development Department and other government officials attend the ceremony.
Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O is located in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong, has a total length of 1.8 km, and is the first marine viaduct in Hong Kong with carriageways, footpaths, cycle tracks and viewing platforms. The main bridge structure is a 200-meter-long butterfly-shaped steel arch bridge with a deck width of 35.8 m, being the heaviest single steel arch bridge with the longest span in Hong Kong.
The construction of Cross Bay Bridge, Tseung Kwan O has overcome many technical difficulties in manufacturing, material transportation and installation, achieving a number of “Firsts” in the industry. The double arches of the steel bridge are made of S690 steel with ultra-high strength, which is first used in the construction of bridges worldwide. It is the first large steel bridge installed using the “Float-over Method” with the help of flood and ebb tides rather than large crane barges, and also is the first record of 10,000-ton steel bridge completed by off-site fabrication and assembly, whole bridge delivery and on-site installation in China.
Cross Bay Bridge, Tseung Kwan O is another landmark sea-crossing bridge following Tsing Ma Bridge and Stonecutters Bridge in Hong Kong, providing a quick access to the city center for the southeastern area of Tseung Kwan O and benefiting the local people.
