ZPMC completed the assembly of the first floor of the upper module of Three Gorges Rudong Offshore Converter Station, the first in Asia, recently, indicating a key step of the major nodes of the manufacturing. 

The upper module of the Station is of 7 floors, with the plane size of about 89mx78m, the height of about 44m and the total weight of about 20,000t. The assembly of the upper module on the outfield was started officially from July 28th, for which the project team, together with different departments, prepared special plans and kept optimizing the lifting process, completing different tasks of the assembly of the first floor within 2 months successfully. The assembly of the second and the third floor has been started at present. 

The offshore converter station is the core equipment for the offshore wind power DC transmission. There was no experience on the construction of the offshore converter station in China in the past. ZPMC undertook the construction of the project on the basis of rich experience of the heavy equipment manufacturing and strong construction technology of the booster stations. The converter station, in the sea of Huangshayang east of Rudong, is an important part of Jiangsu Rudong offshore wind power project to collect the electricity of 1100MW totally from three adjacent wind power plants and change into the DC current with the lower loss before sending to the land with the marine cables. It will be the first offshore converter station in Asia and the largest one in the world at present after the completion.
