The opening ceremony was held at Abu Dhabi Terminal joint-ventured by COSCO and Port of Abu Dhabi Authority on Dec 10th of the local time.
ZPMC signed the contract on Abu Dhabi Khalifa Port Phase II with COSCO in July, 2017, including 11 STSs, 24 automatic RMGs and 8 empty container cranes. The terminal is designed for the annual container handling capacity of 2.5million TEU along the coastline of 1,200m with 3 berths. It was the first berth that was put into operation this time, including 4 STSs and 6 RMGs.
Huang Qingfeng, at the opening ceremony, expressed appreciation to the delivery team of ZPMC on Abu Dhabi and thanks for their hard work on the delivery of the first batch of the equipment within a short time under the high temperature. He urged that the project was an important cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road and wished the delivery team would work hard to complete the subsequent delivery.
Abu Dhabi Terminal is under semi-automatic operation with the water depth of 16.5m, which can berth large vessels holding more than 20,000TEU. The Terminal with the designed annual capacity of 2.5million TEU can handle 1.5million TEU annually, which will be put into trail operation in April 2019.
