Commencement of rack of gravel leveling barge for Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge

Four laser torches are burning the 177.8mm thick steel plate. The rack project of the self-elevating gravel leveling barge by ZPMC for Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge started officially recently. The first 9m long and 2.2m wide steel plate of 28t was cut successfully after nearly two hours work.

The barge is the largest deepwater leveling barge in the world at present, which will be listed in China Classification Society (CCS). The rack, as an important part of the pile leg, will support the whole leveling barge standing in the sea. The whole barge consists of 72 single-side racks. After the steel plate entering the factory, the sampling test, cutting, polishing, correcting, measurement and final delivery test will be made on it. It also involves cutting the dual-side rack into the single-side rack, cutting groove at the back and end surface of the rack.

Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge connects two cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan and it’s a super cluster project in the world, involving bridge, island, tunnel and underground connection, totally 24km, including the immersed tunnel of 6.8km approximately. The self-elevating gravel leveling barge is one customized deepwater gravel bedding pavement core equipment by ZPMC for Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge, a maritime platform with integration of foundation positioning, gravel transportation, high accuracy pavement and leveling as well as the quality test and acceptance.
