On April 10th, Premier Li Keqiang, during his survey on the construction of free trade terminal in Shanghai, visited ZPMC, the famous heavy equipment manufacturer and most competitive automatic terminal set equipment and system manufacturer and supplier in the world. Li Keqiang encouraged ZPMC to manufacture the first class equipment and provide the first class services, thus, becoming one of Global 500.
“Equipment of high quality is supposed to manufacture with services of high quality”
In the headquarter of ZPMC, Li Keqiang, after listening to the report on the free trade terminal program by Yingyong, Mayor and vice Secretary of Shanghai, expressed the wishes for Shanghai to explore the feasibility of free trade terminal with own advantages on the basis of actual conditions. Zhu Lianyu, Chairman and Secretary of ZPMC made report on 8 major businesses, development experience, model projects as well as new strategy of equipment manufacturing, capital operation and Internet. Zhu also expressed ZPMC would take opportunities for the target of globally leading manufacturers cluster proposed in the report of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The Company would also take the favorable chances of civil and military integration, requirements on brands of equipment made in shanghai by the Municipal as well as the pilot of state-owned capital investment company of China Communication Construction to develop the industry cluster on the basis of core advantages, making ZPMC a stronger and excellent corporation. Premier Li expressed high praise after learning that ZPMC not only manufactured the terminal equipment but made independent R&D on the terminal equipment control system (ECS) and that ZPMC would make joint R&D on the terminal operation system (TOS) from the detailed report on the wholly automatic terminal by Zhu Lianyu. “Besides the equipment manufacturing, the Company shall develop the terminal service and system general contract.” he expressed, “There is no strong equipment manufacturing without the corresponding services. The former is guaranteed by the latter.” Huang Qingfeng, President and vice Secretary of ZPMC added that the Company had established 30 overseas branches at present with the support of the free trade zone, making the whole industry chain development on the port machinery spare parts, services, restructuring, upgrading and consultancy. Premier Li was quite delighted to hear that.
Various models were exhibited in the hall on the first floor, including the marine core components, whole equipment transportation vessels, pillars of great power and the system integrated terminal, showing ZPMC was leading in the equipment manufacturing.
A blue mode drew the attention of Premier Li. “It’s the model of the double 40ft and dual trolley container STS, which was initially manufactured by ZPMC in the globe in 2005. It has the capacity to lift four 20ft containers or two 40ft containers maximally at a time. The crane can be used in different complicated working conditions, indicating a new era of the container crane in China”, said Zhu Lianyu. Premier Li praised on hearing it. Then, Premier Li visited the models of 12,000t floating crane, the largest one in the world, by ZPMC, Shanghai Yangshan Phase IV fully automatic terminal, self-elevating drilling platform and Longyuan Zhenhua No. 3, the largest wind power installation vessel in the world. Premier Li stopped in front of the model of 400ft JU2000E drilling platform for a long time and asked about the design. Premier Li felt delighted on learning that the platform was designed with independent IPR by US F&G Company acquired wholly by CCCC.
In front of the model of Longyuan Zhenhua No. 3, Premier Li asked where the gear was made. Zhu said: “It is designed and manufactured independently by ZPMC. We own the production bases of marine core components, including the reduction gearbox. Compared with other marine companies, we can manufacture the shell of vessel as well as the China core.” Premier Li nodded while hearing the introduction. He was astonished to learn that ZPMC owned the biggest heavy equipment ocean transportation fleet in the world.
“You've done a great job in innovation.”
Then, Premier Li arrived at ZPMC Onshore Heavy Industries Design &Research Institute, the technical incubation center, where various innovative techniques for port were initialized. It happened that Yan Yunfu, general engineer of ZPMC, together with his R&D team, were discussing the automatic disassembly technique on the container lockpins. Premier Li stopped and picked up the lockpins on the table and listened to the discussion with great interest. It was the problem of the automatic terminal in the world due to scores of unlocking principles on the basis of more than 100 kinds of lockpins. It was considered the last bottleneck of the fully automatic terminal. ZPMC has mastered 70% of the lockpin automatic disassembly techniques at present thanks to many years exploration. Yan made detailed answers to professional and specific questions by Premier Li. “Despite various container lockpins with different principles, you have made automatic disassembly. You really work hard!”. Premier Li thought highly of the innovation of ZPMC and wished the Company would develop it into a great business after standardization in the future.
Premier Li walked up to the young in the office to talk with them. He talked with them about 3D parameter design software they were adopting, which was researched and developed independently by ZPMC. It could generate the drawings after inputting parameters directly, improving the design efficiency. Zhu Lianyu explained that ZPMC, as the leader of port machinery, was leading in the industry with technical innovation. Premier Li smiled and nodded to show praise.
“Struggle for Global 500 with manufacturing and services”
Finally, Premier Li arrived at the remote control center of ZPMC. It was the unique technology by ZPMC for remote control on terminal equipment, examining faults for the user and providing technical support, including big data analysis, with the computer monitor.
Premier Li listened to the introduction of Yangshan Phase IV fully automatic terminal by Chen Xuyuan, Chairman of SIPG. With the remote technology, Premier Li made contact with the terminal, inquired the equipment control on the site and watched the equipment loading and unloading as well as many automatic guided vehicles (AGV) working in unmanned terminal in the center of the monitor. Premier Li said that Yangshan Port, as the window of Shanghai, even China, should continue expanding import and export trades to integrate China economy into the world, promoting the global trade liberalization.
The staff, at the news of Premier arrival, got together in the hall of the ZPMC headquarter. Premier Li walked up to the crowd and shook their hands at the end of the visit.
Premier Li said that he has seen the logo of ZPMC at different terminals at home and abroad, in spite of his first visit to the headquarter. “As your name suggests, you are revitalizing China, with the equipment made in China.” Premier Li was delighted at the equipment and services of first class. He encouraged the Company, “The equipment and services of first class shall guarantee the leading position in the competitive equipment market of the globe. You will be awesome with the equipment manufacturing and quality services. Wish you forge ahead for Global 500.” The staff was inspired and couldn’t help applauding.
