On March 23rd 2017, Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Conference was grandly held in the Friendship Hall of Shanghai Exhibition Center to honor the professionals in science and technology who have made outstanding contribution to scientific and technological innovation in Shanghai. Li Qiang, member of the CPC Politburo and Party Secretary of Shanghai, Ying Yong, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Shanghai and other officials attended the conference to present awards to winning representatives.

The project of "Key Technology of Automatic Container Terminal Handling System", assumed by ZPMC as a leader, won the first prize.

ZPMC Chief Engineer Yan Yunfu, as a winning representative of Science and Technology Progress, Natural Science Award, Technical Invention Award, International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award, delivered an exchange speech at the conference. He said that automatic container terminal was an epoch-making revolution of the container terminal industry. ZPMC cooperated with related universities, research institutes and container terminal users to seek innovation. For more than 10 years, over 300 scientists and engineers devoted themselves to this industry and successively overcame a lot of technological problems such as target auto detection and positioning by integrating magnetic nails, encoder, laser, radar and image, positioning and container aligning featuring auto remote control, anti-swing and torsion resistance, multi-equipment remote detection, control and fault diagnosis, multi-task flexible scheduling technology, path optimization, model resolving and so on, and developed 5 systems - single automatic STS, MTG and AGV, equipment control and scheduling, TOS docking and gate smart monitoring. Such 5 systems form a whole set of terminal handling automatic system, which was firstly built up at Xiamen Ocean Gate Terminal, and then at Qingdao Qianwan Port, and Shanghai Yangshan Phase IV Terminal after corresponding innovation. The system has been promoted continually in advancement and stability. ZPMC was also rated as “the best supplier of automatic container terminals” by Terminal Operator, a global authoritative journal in the field.

In the future, ZPMC will continue to innovate vigorously in the digital intelligent new era, exploit maritime engineering equipment and services, smart industry and other new businesses, and build fullly automatic container terminal of a higher level as well as provide leading equipment made in China to the world.

2017 Shanghai Science and Technology Awards were granted to 272 items (persons), of which 21 won Shanghai Natural Science Award, 31 won Shanghai Technology Invention Award, and 216 won Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.
