The flexible wholly-rotating propeller of 1,600KW by ZPMC won another international certificate from Norway • Germany Lloyd’s Register of Shipping recently, indicating such domestic core component winning the international permit. It will promote such product by ZPMC at home and abroad, breaking the monopoly on such dynamic positioning system by foreign corporations.

The wholly-rotating propeller is the major execution structure of the dynamic positioning system which is generally used on offshore oil rigs and offshore support vessels for submersibles to collect parameters of wind, wave and current for automatic calculation of the position of vessels and control on the propelling forces and directions of propeller, thus, making sure the vessels remains fully still in the operation. It is an indispensable technology to support the deep sea oil drilling, subsea engineering, marine salvage, rescue and marine geology survey.

The core technology of the dynamic positioning system was under the control of minor foreign corporations for a long time. It is the bottle neck for the development of domestic high-end equipment due to the high purchasing price and long delivery period. ZPMC started the research and development of the dynamic positioning propeller in 2008. After solving 5 major problems of the design and manufacturing of large-diameter spiral bevel gear, large-diameter deepwater seal, large-diameter rotating joint and above-water and under-water installation and maintenance of flexible rotating propeller assembly and large power propeller, ZPMC made the 1,600 KW wholly-rotating, liftable dynamic position system with side propelling force successfully in 2014, filling in multiple blanks in the marine dynamic propeller of China, breaking the foreign monopoly and promoting the independent research and development on key components for marine heavy industries of China.

ZPMC once won the certificate of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) for two 3,800KW main dynamic propellers made by ZPMC in September, 2017. The certificate from Norway • Germany Lloyd’s Register of Shipping is a new breakthrough in the propeller by ZPMC.
