Recently, the ship "Zhenhua 28" loaded with the whole ship's port machinery and equipment successfully docked at Lekki Port, which is the first ship equipment of ZPMC ushered in by Lekki Port, Nigeria's first modern deep-water port. The next day, Nigerian President Buhari issued a statement in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, to congratulate him.

In the statement, Buhari said that after the Lekki Port is put into operation, it will create a large number of employment opportunities, improve people's lives in Nigeria, promote Nigeria's foreign trade activities, help Nigeria improve its business environment and attract foreign investment, and the Nigerian government will spare no effort to develop the potential of the port.

Lekki Port is located 60 kilometers east of Lagos State, Nigeria. The port started construction in June 2020, and it is planned to build 2 container berths and a tugboat wharf, with an annual design capacity of 1.2 million standard containers. ZPMC provided 5 quay cranes and 15 tire cranes for Lekki Port. The first batch of 2 quay cranes and 5 tire cranes were successfully shipped on May 17, and the second batch of equipment was successfully shipped on June 24. At present, the second batch is still in transit.

Lagos State is an important hub for international trade in the Gulf of Guinea and West Africa. After the Lekki Port is put into operation, it will greatly enhance the container distribution capacity of Lagos, an international metropolis in Africa, ease traffic congestion in the city and port area, and reduce international trade logistics costs. To enhance Nigeria's economic competitiveness, its successful development reflects the win-win cooperation between China and Nigeria.
